Ohio State starting quarterback Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal early Monday morning, 247Sports has learned.

McCord finished the season with 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns against six interceptions while completing 65.8% of his passes. The former five-star passer took over for CJ Stroud this offseason after an extended quarterback battle with second-year passer Devin Brown. McCord led Ohio State to an 11-0 start to the regular season before the Buckeyes fell to Michigan, 30-24, to end the regular season. That loss knocked them out of the College Football Playoff race.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound McCord ranked as the No. 28 overall player in the 2021 247Sports Composite rankings. The Pennsylvania native picked Ohio State over Penn State and a host of other national offers.
