A professional ambulance service closed up for good on Saturday in Mansfield after serving the community for nearly six decades. Mansfield Ambulance Service, which was founded by businessman Jess Byrd way back in 1961, closed its Mansfield operation reportedly due to lack of business and COVID-19. 20 people, both full and part time, worked at the Mansfield division. The company at this time still has services available here in Wooster, along with Alliance, Canton, Massillon, and Barberton.
