Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, Medina County Job and Family Services is warning area residents about the recent increase of identity theft across the community. Medina County Job and Family Services Director Debbie Kiley says their office has received dozens of calls from residents who have been victims of identity theft related to unemployment benefits. If you receive a 1099-G tax form or other unemployment related documents and you have not filed for unemployment, please contact the Ohio Department of Job of Family Services online at Unemployment.Ohio.gov and use the “report identity theft” pages. Hundreds of Medina County residents have been linked to this type of identity theft.
