The Medina County Battered Women’s Shelter will be getting a full renovation thanks to a Community Development Block Grant that was made available through the CARES Act. The shelter, which is owned by the county and rented to the organization for $1 a year, currently has five bedrooms to house up to 20 people per night, but due to social distancing requirements the shelter has only been able to house up to 10 people. The renovation will see the shelter expand to ten suites and will also have better air circulation systems on each floor. The total amount of money being asked for in the grant is nearly $391,000.
