Holmes County is getting set to begin a paving project that will cover roughly 21 miles of county roadways.  County commissioners on Monday awarded the contract for the project to Melway Paving at a cost of just over $3 million. Commissioners say the current cost is more than 30 percent higher than last year, which equals about $1,000 more for every mile paved.  Funding for the project will come from the county’s quarter percent sales tax designated specifically for road work.
