Today is election day, with polls open statewide until seven thirty tonight.  Locally, Wayne County voters will be deciding several issues today, including a 1.1-mill renewal levy for the Wayne County Public library, coupled with a 0.2-mill increase to cover the library’s expenses.  Tax levies for Wooster Township Fire and West Salem’s Town and Country Fire District are also on the ballot, while residents in Doylestown will cast their votes for or against the village’s first-ever charter.  Contested races in Wayne County include the newly redrawn 7th Congressional District and the 77th State House District, along with three seats up for grabs on the 9th District Court of Appeals.  Statewide, Democrat Tim Ryan and Republican J.D. Vance are battling for Rob Portman’s U.S. Senate seat, while Governor Mike Dewine is squaring off against Democratic challenger Nan Whaley.
