The Ohio Department of Education has awarded the Northwestern Local School District with a $200,000 literacy grant. According to the district’s superintendent, the grant is designed to boost students’ reading, writing and verbal skills. The money will be used to support the district’s literacy coaches and curriculum instructor at all grade levels. Northwestern was one of only 20 districts in the state to receive the grant, and the only one locally.
