The Northwestern Local School District has decided to try a new approach to grading at the elementary level. School board members recently agreed to change the way the district’s elementary year is broken up, switching from four grading periods down to three. Those who support the trimester system say the additional time between grading assessments gives younger students more of an opportunity to develop and learn the material.
