An preliminary report is out on the train derailment in East Palestine. The chair of the National Transportation Safety Board said that the accidents was 100 % preventable. The NTSB board says an overheated wheel bearing on one train car failed, causing the accident. The crew was notified and was in the process of slowing the train down when the bearing failed. The board said that even though they’re calling it an accident, an equipment failure like that should have been spotted sooner. A total of 38 train cars derailed, they included 11 tank cars carrying hazardous materials that subsequently ignited fueling fires that would up damaging a dozen cars that didn’t derail.
