As students head back to school, Ohio health officials recommend several steps to keep children healthy − including vaccines.  A higher percentage of Ohio kindergartners were vaccinated in the 2022-2023 school year than the previous two, but the rate still isn’t back to pre-pandemic levels. During the 2022-2023 school year, nearly 10% of kindergarten students, about 12,000 children, were missing at least one required vaccine dose.  Vaccination rates dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic for two main reasons. First was access and the second was opposition to the vaccines during Covid.
