The Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle fatal accident that occurred Monday Evening in Clear Creek Township. According to the patrol, a vehicle was travelling north on SR 545 when it attempted to pass another vehicle and struck a south bound vehicle head on in the other lane, which caused vehicle that was stuck to also collide with the vehicle that was being passed. The driver of the passing vehicle was identified as 31 year-old Jesse Campbell of Oberlin, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Campbell was a football and wrestling coach at Crestview High School in Ashland, and a former wrestling and football coach at Black River. The driver of the vehicle that was struck head on was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus and is in serious condition, while four others in the accident suffered non-life threatening injuries. Campbell, a 2007 Black River graduate, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
