A one-vehicle accident early yesterday morning in Wayne County’s Green Township claimed the life of a man from Sterling. 24-year old Jason Elder was northbound on Apple Creek Road, at around 3am, when his pickup truck went off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and a railroad crossing gate and then rolled onto the nearby railroad tracks. Elder was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
