Opening statements were heard yesterday in the retrial of Erica Stefanko, the 41-year old Rittman woman accused of helping her former husband commit a murder more than a decade ago.  Stefanko is being retried in Summit County, where she was sentenced to life in prison in November of 2020.  Her conviction was overturned two years later though on a technicality.  Stefanko’s latest trial was originally scheduled to begin two weeks ago, but was twice delayed, most recently because the prosecuting attorney came down with COVID.
