Serena Williams fell short of her quest for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title, playing well in stretches but making too many mistakes in a 6-3, 6-4 victory by Naomi Osaka in the Australian Open semifinals. Osaka also beat Williams in the chaotic 2018 U.S. Open final. She reached her fourth major title match and stretched her winning streak to 20 matches by claiming the last eight points.

It will be Naomi Osaka against American Jennifer Brady in the Australian Open women’s single final. Osaka ended Serena Williams’ bid for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title by posting a 6-3, 6-4. Brady saved a trio of break points and to close out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory against Karolina Muchova.
