Following a nationwide trend, the Wayne County Public Library is doing away with overdue fines.  Beginning Wednesday, fines, which accounted for less than one percent of the library’s overall operating revenue, will no longer be levied on late materials.  Patrons, however, will still need to pay the cost of replacing any lost or damaged items.  Additionally, the library’s express movies and games will continue to be 50 cents a piece to check out.  Earlier this year, the American Library Association approved a resolution that recommended libraries across the U.S. due away with fines, saying that they restricted, rather than promoted, library usage.
