The State Highway Patrol’s Ashland Post says that a pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning in Ashland County’s Jackson Township. The incident happened around 4:15 AM on U.S. Route 42. Authorities say that a 20-year-old Shelby man was driving his car down “42” when he hit the pedestrian, who was walking in the left lane of southbound 42, which is multi-laned. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 30-year-old Brett Lycans of West Salem. The driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene and is suspected to not be at fault for the accident. The crash continues to be under investigation.
