A disruption in phone service yesterday morning affected emergency 911 lines in Wayne and Holmes counties.  911 lines were down for about three hours before eventually being restored shortly before 1pm.  The outage, which was first reported by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, forced emergency response departments to have to temporarily use alternate call numbers.  Many businesses and homes in Wooster also lost the use of their landlines, while phone outages were reported in Orrville as well.  Officials have yet to say what caused the outage.
