The village of Shreve is asking voters to approve a levy this month so that it can improve its police coverage. If approved, the additional 6-mill continuing levy, which will appear on the March 17th Primary ballot, would generate roughly $100,000 a year. The village says that money would allow it to hire a third full-time officer and raise its part-time officer’s wages. Should the levy fail, the police department would continue to operate at its current staffing level.
