According to AEP, the power outage affecting parts of Wooster today was caused by a piece of equipment that failed last night in the station that feeds power to Wooster’s downtown area. Crews worked through the night and so far have been able to restore power to roughly half of the estimated 2,200 customers originally affected. A temporary mobile unit is being brought in and installed that will reportedly allow all remaining customers to have their power restored by 2 pm today. To get further updates on the outage, AEP recommends signing up for its mobile alerts on its website or downloading the AEP Ohio app.
