Thousands remain without power locally today as the heat index climbs up near 100. Crews from American Electric Power and Holmes-Wayne Electric continue the job of trying to get their customers back online. Of the nearly 18,000 homes and businesses that its serves, Holmes-Wayne Electric has over 10,000 still without power this morning. The company says it will likely take several days to get power back to all those that have been affected. AEP also has around 10,000 customers locally with our service. Around 6,100 in Holmes County and another 4,900 in Wayne County are without power at this time.
