A proposed $25 million project is aiming to make Wayne and Holmes County roadways safer for both motorists and the Amish community.  To fund project, the two counties are hoping to receive $24.3 million in federal funding and an additional $6,000 from Rails to Trails and the Amish Steering Committee.  If the counties’ joint application is approved, crews will construct three and a half miles of trails, two and a half miles of bike lanes and nearly six miles of multi-purpose buggy and bike lanes.  The project would also include the installation of four solar electric vehicle charging stations and five buggy detectors.  Assuming the counties receive the funding, construction would likely begin no earlier than 2025.
