Free agent running back Dalvin Cook is planning to sign a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million with the New York Jets, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday night.

Cook had been a free agent since June 9, when the Minnesota Vikings released the veteran running back, ending his six-year tenure with the franchise.

Cook visited with the Jets last month and said at the time the odds he signs with New York were “pretty high.”

“I think we’re in a position of, you know, a team that’s building something special, and I want to be part of something special as a player,” Cook told NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.” “I want to add to whatever they’ve got going on.”
