The East Wayne Fire District officially installed the first Jenson Rescue Rope in the county. The rope, which is dedicated to 4 year-old Jenson Hodge, was installed at the pond where Hodge fell through the ice and drowned last December. The incident happened when Jenson fell through the ice on a pond at their family’s farm, along with his grandfather and older brother who were attempting to rescue him. East Wayne Fire District Assistant Chief Ryan Sprunger came up with purchasing the ropes that will be installed at ponds and lakes across the county. The ropes are 75 feet long and can be thrown out of a bag that helps make it easier for someone trying to throw it into a body of water.
