Several projects in Wayne County will benefit this year from a statewide conservation program. The state recently announced plans to provide about $8 million worth of grants to various environmental conservation projects around the state. Locally, the city of Orrville is expected to receive $200,000 for its Heartland Trail project. Another project, the Killbuck Creek Headwaters Preserve, is slated to receive $450,000. That project is a partnership between several organizations that will acquire roughly 43 acres of agricultural land in Canaan Township.
