As of today, the Wooster Salvation Army’s Severe Weather Shelter is officially open for the winter season.  Now thru the end of March, the shelter will open its doors any night the temperature falls below 25 degrees, or when the wind chill makes it feel that cold.  The shelter was open 72 nights last winter, but Salvation  Army officials are bracing for a possibly colder, and therefore busier, winter season ahead.  In addition to having more volunteers this year, the Salvation Army is also hiring more paid workers to help staff the overnight shelter.
