The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has named its latest deputy of the year award winners. This year’s winners are Sgt. Steven Hunter and Deputy Payton Schafer. Hunter, who joined the sheriff’s office in 2012, was named the Law Enforcement Division Deputy of the Year, while Schafer, who was hired in 2016, was recognized as the Corrections Division Deputy of the Year.
