Firefighters from several different departments were in Rittman over the weekend to battle a fire in a swampy field. The fire, which was reported Saturday afternoon, at around 1:30pm, ended up burning an acre and a half of land located east of South Main Street. In addition to no injuries being reported, firefighters were also able to keep the flames away from a nearby home and some storage units. The cause of the fire is unknown, but because of where it started, fire officials don’t believe that it was intentionally set by a person.
