The Village of Millersburg is joining a laundry list of villages and cities seeking damages from Purdue Pharma for the opioid epidemic. The village authorized solicitor Bob Hines to file the claim on behalf of the village at their meeting on Monday. Purdue Pharma is the maker of Oxycontin, which was found to lead to heroin usage. Purdue has filed for bankruptcy, and plans to put $10 billion in a fund to be distributed to all municipalities that have filed a claim. Hines told Village Council that it is up to the bankruptcy court to determine what money they would be able to receive.
