There was a train derailment yesterday afternoon in Sterling.  Authorities say the empty BNSF grain train was westbound on the New Castle Subdivision line, which is owned and operated by CSX, when the derailment occurred at around 2pm.  Roughly twenty cars went off the tracks, but fortunately none of them overturned.  The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office called the derailment minor and was quick to point out that there were no hazardous materials involved.  The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.  No injuries were reported.
