The Triway Local School District recently accepted a $5,000 donation and a plaque honoring the memory of a Korean War veteran from Wayne County.  Both were given to the district by a Korean couple, who have traveled all over the country making similar donations as a way of honoring the Americans who fought in the war.  The plaque is in honor of Private First Class Robert Aukerman, of Congress Township, who was only 20 years old when he was killed in action in South Korea, in July of 1950.  Triway officials say the plaque will be placed in the district’s new pre-K through 12th building, while the money will be used to create a special place for the plaque, as well as purchase new books on history and the military.
