Ashland Police say that two men were arrested last weekend following a routine traffic stop in which officers found combustible materials, along with a handgun and suspected drugs. According to the report, the traffic stop took place in the city last Sunday at around 3:00 pm in the area of Cottage and Vine Streets. After pulling over the car for failed use of a turn signal, officers reportedly found gunpowder, cannon fuse, and handcrafted fireworks inside of the vehicle, prompting the department’s bomb squad to arrive. A handgun and suspected methamphetamine were also recovered. The 20 and 43-year-old men inside the vehicle were both arrested, as the incident continues to be investigated.
