The United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties (UWWH) recognized early on in March that people would have needs above and beyond the usual when the pandemic hit. They started fundraising immediately and community businesses and members rallied to give in a time like no other. “When we started our COVID-19 Fund in early March, we could not believe the response from the community.” said Katie Koglman, Executive Director. “To date we have raised $166,858.00 and have given away $95,808.17 dollars to community organizations that sought to take care of community needs that were not present before, needs that arose out of an economic downturn and needs for childcare that were not their previously their due to the closing of schools.” She continued. “We are the bridge in the community, through the good times and the bad. We want to help this community thrive and that is exactly why this fund has been so beneficial.”
