In Medina County, the Wadsworth Police Department has been recognized for how it responds to calls involving individuals with mental illnesses. Alternative Paths, which works with people of all ages dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues, recently honored the department with its Crisis Intervention Team award for Police Agency of the Year. Wadsworth’s police chief says mental health issues lie at the core what his officers deal with on a regular basis.
