It was a historic day for Waynedale at the OHSAA State Dual team tournament.  The Golden Bears advanced to the finals of the Div. III tournament for the first time in school history — a huge achievement considering all the accomplishments one of the best programs in the region has racked up over the years.

However, Waynedale ran into a buzzsaw in the final, ending its run just short of of a state title.  The Edison Chargers proved to be every bit as good as advertised, beating Waynedale 57-14 in the final round of the Div. III tournament before 1,588 wrestling fans at St. John Arena on the campus of Ohio State.

The Golden Bears managed a 5-2 decision by Storm Stanley at 132 pounds, an 18-3 technical fall by Peyton Lemon, and a forfeit win for Micah Hershberger at 170 to account for their 17 points.

Edison posted seven pins on its way to the championship, scoring the most points ever by a Division III team in the eight-year history of the state duals since the OHSAA reformatted the tournament.
