Wayne and Holmes counties have each been awarded grants to help promote safe driving.  The grants are being made available through a partnership of the U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the Ohio Department of Public Safety.  Holmes County was given just over $27,000, while Wayne County’s grant totaled more than $46,000.  The grants will allow each county to operate a Safe Communities program, which promotes safer driving through a variety of different ad campaigns, such as Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, Click it or Ticket and Stay Alive, Don’t Text and Drive.
