As they do every year, the Wayne County Children Services board and the Voices for Children Committee recently recognized a local law enforcement officer who has played a significant role in identifying and addressing child abuse and neglect.  This year, Kate Hawthorn, formerly of the Doylestown Police Department, was honored for her role in investigating a case of suspected abuse.  In accepting the Officer of the Year award , Hawthorn said she was unable to talk about the case because the investigation is still ongoing.
