The Wayne County Commissioners approved an application for funding to renovate the Wayne County Jail. The Commissioners have been working for a few years to renovate the jail and said now that COVID restrictions have been lifted the project is on the front burner. The cost of the project is expected to be $30.2 million, with the Commissioners applying for half that from the state, and the other half coming from local funding.
