The sandhill crane is making a comeback here in Ohio and apparently Wayne County is leading the way.  The Ohio Division of Wildlife coordinated an official count of sandhill crane sightings last month, with Wayne County’s 84 by far the best in the state.  Geauga County came in a distant second with 56, followed by Trumbull County’s 47.  Holmes County and Ashland County also took part in the count, with 18 and 11 sandhill sightings respectively.  Officials say the main goal of the count was to document the birds’ breeding status.
