A Wayne County teenager bowed out of the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Tuesday, during day one of the three-day competition.  14-year old Andrew Yeager, an eighth grader at Chippewa Junior High School, spelled his first round word correctly, but picked the wrong definition for his vocabulary word in round number two.  This was the second straight year that Yeager had qualified for the annual event by winning the regional spelling bee in Akron.  This year’s spelling bee is taking place in Washington D.C., after being held virtually last year, due to COVID.
