The Western Holmes Fire District is looking to terminate its contract with Loudonville for fire and emergency services to the Washington Township area at the end of the month. The fire district, which serves the communities of Lakeville, Nashville and Big Prairie, as well as surrounding townships, is trying to lower the annual cost for fire and emergency services that it pays the village’s department. The fire district has indicated that it would be willing to enter into a new agreement with the village, so long as it’s for less money. The fire district is meeting tonight to discuss the matter further. District reps will then get together with village officials later this month to talk more about the situation.
