A small plane was damaged when one of its front wheels came off after landing yesterday morning at the Holmes County Airport. According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the single-engine aircraft was being flown by an 83-year-old Pennsylvania man, along with a co-pilot. The pair were reportedly on their way to Iowa and had touched down in Holmes County to refuel.  When the wheel fell off, the plane’s landing gear dug into the runway, causing the plane to spin around 180 degrees.  The aircraft had minor damage to its left wing, tail and rear wheel.  Fortunately, no injuries were reported.  The FAA, which was on the scene for several hours, is now investigating the source of the malfunctioning wheel.
