Wooster council members have approved some changes to city employee benefits.  The changes are being made in an effort to hire more quality employees in 2022, as well as retain the city’s current workforce.  Some of the changes involve sick time and annual retention bonuses, which will now begin after five years of continual service.  The bonuses start at $250 and increase every five years, topping out at $2,000 for anyone who has been with the city for at least 25 years.  In regard to sick time, city employees can now either sell or bank their sick time as needed, while some previous rules have been revoked, including sick leave incentive.  Another change approved at last night’s council meeting is that Juneteenth will now be a city-recognized paid holiday for all employees.
