Wooster Athletes, Marching Band, and Families,

The health and safety of our students, coaches and families is always our top priority. As such, we are currently operating under the guidance of the Ohio Department of Health Sports Responsible Restart. Throughout the summer, we have been operating under the following guidelines:

Phase 1No Sports Practices, Training or Activities3/13-6/8
Phase 2Sports Training, Practices, and Activities for all Sports Following ODH Protocols.6/8-7/31
Phase 3Competition at an Interscholastic Level With ODH Protocols In Place (including COVID Testing for all contact sports 72 hours before competition).8/1/20

In light of this and in light of recent developments with COVID-19, Wooster City Schools will be having Fall Athletics for Middle and High School as follows:

  • Boys and Girls Golf and Girls Tennis will engage in Seasonal Interscholastic competition (Phase 3) beginning August 17, 2020, with a modified schedule of play and without COVID Testing.
  • Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Boys and Girls Cross Countryand Marching Band will be delayed for seasonal competition and will remain in Phase 2 (Optional Sports Training and Practices) until October 1, 2020.

It is important to note that this is not a cancellation of our fall sports season. Rather, it is a postponement to ensure that we are able to continue to consistently align with all safety requirements and recommendations set forth in the interest of our students, their families and public health. We will continue working with our student athletes whose seasons have been delayed and modified to provide the best experience possible during this difficult time.  Our coaches are working diligently to keep our athletes engaged in Phase 2 training as we prepare for our competition seasons.

As always, we thank you for your continued support of our students.
