A Wooster man is facing a long list of charges following a high-speed chase over the weekend that injured a city police officer.  27-year old Edward Vitai was pulled over for a traffic violation shortly after 12:30am on Sunday morning.  After refusing to turn off the engine and get out of his vehicle, police broke Vitai’s driver’s side window.  That is when he took off, dragging with him Sgt. Thomas Webber, who was holding onto the car’s inside door handle.  It was more than half a mile before Webber was able to let go and roll away to safety.  He suffered abrasions on both knees, along with cuts to his hands, and was taken to the hospital after complaining of neck and back pain.  Vitai, meanwhile, was arrested in Ashland County, after crashing his car near Jeromesville.
