The Wooster Police Department sent a warning to the community on Monday after a scammer begun to impersonate an officer within the department.  According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the scammer was claiming to be a member of the department, telling the unsuspecting victim they had a warrant out for their arrest for missing a court appearance.  The scammer then requested the person deliver some sort of payment over the phone.  Police are reminding residents that the department never calls anyone to solicit money of any kind, especially if an arrest warrant is involved.
