More than $100,000 in emergency food and shelter funding is being made available to programs in the Wayne County area that serve the hungry and homeless. The United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, which is in charge of distributing the money, says that applicants who would like a share of the grant will need to be either a private voluntary nonprofit organization or a unit of the government. The federal funds were awarded based on Wayne County’s unemployment numbers.
