Kelly is new to WQKT/WKVX having started at the station in March of 2019. Kelly has a degree in communications from Seton Hill University and has worked in the advertising department for the newspaper industry for over 20 years serving in a management role for the past 10 years. Kelly is very familiar with the Wooster market having worked at the Daily Record as the advertising director for the past 4 years.
Assistant General Manager/Sports Director
Mike attended The Connecticut School of Broadcasting before starting his tenure at WQKT/WKVX in 1989. Mike started at the station part time as a weekend announcer and moved to full time then program director. In 2002 Mike became sports director then assistant general manager in 2008. Mike is known in the community for his play by play announcing skills and his knowledge of all things sports. He can be heard in the mornings and throughout the day covering sports and news.
Christy graduated from Malone University with a degree in Communications (Emphasis in Broadcasting). She has been with WQKT/WKVX since 1996 having started as Traffic Director. Christy added the role of Office Manager in 2008.
Ron attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting before coming to work at WQKT/WKVX in 1998. Ron has had several roles at the station including program director and sports announcer. Ron is currently known for his morning coverage of the news, the 5 am Farm Hour and his Behind the Scenes interviews on Sunday mornings.
Dean attended Ashland University and graduated as a double major in Journalism and Digital Media and Sports Communication. In his time at AU, Dean hosted numerous radio shows and was also heavily involved in broadcasting sports events on both radio and television. He joined WQKT/WKVX in May of 2021. Dean began as a part-time announcer for us and has transitioned into the role of Program Director. You can hear him throughout the week on both WQKT and WKVX.
Game Announcer/Marketing Consultant
Pete currently has a dual role at WQKT/WKVX working as a play by play announcer for local football and basketball games for our sports department and as an account executive for the advertising department. Prior to coming to WQKT/WKVX in March of 2018, Pete worked at a local station in Millersburg in a dual role. Pete’s knowledge of Holmes County helps him service a wide range of businesses with reaching their marketing goals.
Sean attended University of Akron where he received a degree in Broadcast Communications in 2011. Prior to coming to WQKT/WKVX, Sean worked as a Field Sales Specialist at Wooster Brush. Sean resides in Orrville where he helps coach youth league sports. As an account executive, Sean serves a wide range of businesses and helps his customers plan and achieve their marketing goals.
Kim started her career in advertising sales in 2005 at the Mansfield News Journal. She was there for 10 years and was also the Key Account Executive prior to leaving. She then came to The Wooster Daily Record as an Account Executive for the Holmes County Shopper for 2 years. She started with Q-Media on June 13th, 2022 as an account executive. Her years of marketing/advertising experience serves her well with her clients in a multi county area. Kim enjoys working with clients on their short and long term marketing plans.
Kayla Del Rio
Kayla is new to the WQKT team having started in April 2023. Kayla graduated from The University of Akron where she received a bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing in 2022. She was a contributor and editor for the university’s Ashbelt Undergraduate Literary Journal, which highlights student work in all creative writing genres, in 2021 and 2022. Kayla’s passion for creative writing and organization will help her to write great scripts for clients and create annual plans to help clients meet and exceed their marketing goals.
