A free event focusing on the Ohio Black community’s response to the Civil War will take place later this month in Shreve. Black Men in Blue: The Civil War, Ohioans, and the US Colored Troops, will take place on Saturday, April 20th, beginning that afternoon at one o’clock. The event, which is being hosted by the County Line Historical Society, will be held inside Shreve Presbyterian Church. That day’s speaker will be Kelly Mezurek, a professor of history at Walsh University. Mezurek is also a past executive board member of the Ohio Academy of History, and was a representative on the Ohio Civil War 150th Anniversary Advisory Committee.
