The Hiland Hawks have a new Athletic Director, but he is a familiar face to the district. Seger Bonifant was recently named the new Athletic Director during the East Holmes School Board’s May meeting. Bonifant is taking over for Art Yoder, who is retiring. Bonifant was a key player for the Hawks when they won back-to-back state championships in 2011 and 2012. He graduated from West Liberty University in 2016, where he was a two-time All-American and two-time Basketball Times National player of the Year for Division 2. Bonifant continued his playing career oversees after graduating before returning to Hiland to take an assistant coaching position with the girls’ basketball team.
