Convicted serial killer Shawn Grate’s application to reopen his death penalty case has been denied by the Ohio Supreme Court.  The decision was released this week without comment.  Grate murdered at least five women in three Ohio counties between 2006 and 2016.  He was convicted in 2018 of the aggravated murders of two women in Ashland.   The jury recommended the death penalty for Grate, and the Judge in the case agreed. Two other murders in Richland County and one in Marion were attributed to Grate.
